That's a total of over 3,000 million tonnes, equivalent to almost half a century of UK industrial emissions!

As Professor Stuart Gilfillan, who led the research, puts it, "To cut CO2 emissions at scale, we urgently need carbon storage. CO2 mineralisation provides an additional storage option for the UK."
