Around 2 p.m., Victoria Police Department (VicPD) officers rushed to the scene following reports that bear spray had been discharged in the bustling food court area. The immediate aftermath was widespread, with numerous individuals, including both adults and young children, suffering from the effects of the spray. Bear spray, designed to deter aggressive animals, causes intense burning sensations and temporary incapacitation – a truly terrifying experience in a crowded public space.
According to preliminary investigations, VicPD believes the incident involved two young individuals who intentionally discharged the bear spray, apparently targeting another group of youths.
