Cannondale's New Bikes: A Closer Look at the SuperSix EVO and SuperSlice
Cannondale has just unveiled its latest lineup of road and time trial bikes, and it's a game-changer for EF Pro Cycling. The new SuperSix EVO and SuperSlice are part of Cannondale's "fastest fleet ever," designed to give EF's riders an edge on the race course.
The SuperSix EVO: A Racy Redesign
The SuperSix EVO is a fifth-generation all-round race bike, and it's been crafted with the specific needs of EF Pro Cycling's riders in mind. This is evident in its more aggressive geometry, featuring a lower stack that's now more in line with bikes like the Specialized Tarmac SL8. This redesign is likely a strategic move to accommodate Ben Healy's impressive performances, including his long-distance attacks and yellow jersey stint in the 2025 Tour de France.
Despite the minor changes to the exterior, the SuperSix EVO is a sleek and powerful machine. Cannondale focused on reducing weight, with the Lab71 bike weighing a claimed 148g less than the fourth-generation model. The frame, in particular, is a lightweight marvel, weighing just 728g in a 56cm size.
The bike's distinctive pink and black color scheme remains, thanks to a fresh coat of paint. EF's men's and women's teams will be riding in style, equipped with a SRAM Red groupset, Vision wheels, a Fizik saddle, Vittoria Cora Pro tires, and Wahoo Speedplay pedals.
The SuperSlice: A Time Trial Revolution
Cannondale's SuperSlice is a time trial bike that has been in development for a while. It first made an appearance at the 2021 Tour de France, and later as part of the 2022 Palace X Rapha Tour de France collaboration. The SuperSlice is designed to save watts, with a claimed 10-watt reduction at 50kph compared to Cannondale's previous time trial bike.
The bike's new 30mm Corsa Pro Speed tires, requested by pro riders, are a notable feature. However, there's some confusion around tire widths, as noted by Simon von Bromley. Despite this, the SuperSlice is a significant upgrade, with a deeper tube profile contributing to its aerodynamic prowess.
