Tom Aspinall's future in the UFC is shrouded in uncertainty, and Joe Rogan is not holding back on his concerns. In a recent podcast, Rogan delved into the controversial topic of Aspinall's eye injury and its potential impact on his career.
"The Tom Aspinall-Ciryl Gane fight was a disaster, plain and simple," Rogan stated. "Aspinall's vision is still impaired, and the reality is, he might never step back into the octagon. Eye injuries are no joke, and unless you're a true warrior like Michael Bisping, who fought blind in one eye, it's a serious concern."
Aspinall's journey has been plagued by injuries, from his quick loss to Curtis Blaydes due to a knee issue to his recent no-contest against Gane. Despite these setbacks, Rogan believes Aspinall's absence has highlighted a critical issue in the heavyweight division.
"The heavyweight division is in dire straits," Rogan explained. "We're lacking star power and promising talent. Getting Aspinall back is crucial to restoring the division's prestige."
Rogan went on to discuss the potential return of Jon Jones and the challenges of bringing back Francis Ngannou, emphasizing the need for compelling fighters in the heavyweight class.
"The heavyweight champion is the baddest fighter on the planet, but right now, it's anyone's game. Gane's fight with Aspinall left questions, and Jones' status is uncertain. We need clarity and compelling matchups."
