Northern Ireland's goalkeeper, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, believes that Michael O'Neill's squad is the strongest it has ever been, and they are ready to take on Slovakia in a crucial World Cup qualifier. Peacock-Farrell's return to the starting lineup for the World Cup qualifiers was due to Pierce Charles' shoulder injury, which kept him out of the last four games. With Conor Hazard and Luke Southwood breathing down his neck, the competition for the starting goalkeeper spot is fierce. Peacock-Farrell knows he must perform to keep his place.
"Pierce seized his chance when I was injured, and rightly so. When he returns, we have a fantastic group for Michael to choose from. It's all about performing at the club level and when wearing the Northern Ireland shirt."
Northern Ireland's 2-0 victory over Slovakia at Windsor Park is considered one of the best performances during Michael O'Neill's tenure. However, Peacock-Farrell acknowledges that the upcoming match in Kosice might be a different story. "They'll have key players back, and we're missing some, but we showed them what we're capable of when we beat them after their win over Germany. We're confident and playing well."
