Located within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area, it received glowing feedback from Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) following an inspection on October 17, 2025. The HIW report, published on January 17, 2026, highlighted the practice's impressive features, including purpose-built, modern, and clean premises. The inspection praised the practice's infection prevention and control measures, fire safety, and equipment testing, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients.
The report also noted the well-stocked emergency drug and equipment, clear cleaning schedules for clinical areas, and positive patient experiences. Three-quarters of the 16 patients surveyed rated the service as good or very good, with most respondents praising the clear explanations, active listening, and respectful treatment from clinicians. Ringland Medical Practice offers a comprehensive range of services, including chronic disease management and annual review clinics, supported by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
The appointment system is designed for efficient clinical assessment and prioritization, with GP triage each morning. Patients can secure same-day or routine appointments, advice, or signposting, depending on their needs. The new telephone system has been a success, improving access according to staff and patient participation group members. The practice also excels in clinical record keeping and hosts regular forums covering palliative care, safeguarding, significant events, and urgent cancer referrals.
HIW commended the practice for its high standards, including the notable standard of advanced nurse practitioner notes and its awareness of local needs, such as deprivation and complex long-term conditions. The practice collaborates with other services and cluster practices to enhance support. Despite no major concerns, HIW recommended some improvements, such as promoting a private side room, recording offers of chaperones, capturing patients' language and communication needs, and including high-level cleaning in schedules. The report confirmed that an improvement plan is already in place to address these areas.
