A major power outage swept Weston-super-Mare, leaving more than 2,500 homes and businesses in the dark this evening.
The National Grid logged the fault just before 8:00 PM. Within ten minutes, about 2,000 properties had their power restored, but roughly 500 remained without electricity.
The affected area includes the BS22 postcode, specifically Weston Village in Weston-super-Mare.

'All properties restored'
National Grid later confirmed that power had been fully restored to all properties.

At 9:40 PM, engineers reported they were still diligently working to restore the final properties that remained without power.

Cause of incident
The outage began at 7:22 PM due to a fault on a high-voltage transmission line. Engineers hoped to have everyone back online by 9:00 PM.

There were 153 properties still without power at that moment as crews pressed on with repairs.
